me and my hoe

I spent a few hours in my garden this afternoon. There was a big thunderstorm rolling in so I could feel a cool breeze and hear the constant rumble of thunder. It was very peaceful. It helped relive some of my stress. As long as I can remember I have been working in the garden. either in mine or helping my father in his garden. I can remember growing up playing in the dirt while my dad was ploughing or planting. My brother and I would bury our matchbox cars and our GI Joes.
This year mother nature has been tough on my garden. I didn't get the first drop of rain on my vegetables until about two months after I planted. I had to run the sprinkler three times a week. here lately mother nature has been very graceful and blessed me with plenty of rain. My garden is looking better than ever.
I think the thing I like the most about working in the garden can be explained best with the old saying "you reap what you sew". In other words you get out of your garden only what you put in. If I bust my ass and take care of my crops they will take care of me come harvest time. If I neglect them they won't produce for me. I can pour my heart out into the soil and watch my love turn into food and flowers for me to enjoy. I also enjoy the fact that I can take my frustration out in the weeds with my hoe and not worry about hurting anyone's feelings LoL.
well I could keep going on but supper is ready
